Dell today announced that Dell Security has achieved significant Department of Defense (DoD) certification for Dell SonicWALL next-generation firewalls (NGFWs). The DoD Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UC APL) certification qualifies Dell SonicWALL firewalls for usage, implementation or deployment to military departments and DoD agencies based on stringent Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) testing, a standardized methodology for the secure installation and maintenance of computer software and hardware. This critical UC APL certification helps Dell to better serve Department of Defense existing and future customers with industry-leading cybersecurity throughout the federal government. It also enables both public and private sector organizations using Dell SonicWALL firewalls to have the highest level of confidence in network security that is both effective and provides a lower total cost of ownership versus competitive solutions.
Maintaining national security with Dell’s UC APL-certified next-generation firewalls
In today’s hyper-connected world, where threats continue to increase in breadth and sophistication, the ability to acquire the technology necessary to empower national security professionals and maintain national security is critical. The APL is the only approved equipment list from which DoD agencies can fulfill their system needs. With Dell SonicWALL next-generation firewalls, their networks will be protected by:
Highly-effective anti-malware protection, intrusion prevention, content and URL filtering, application control, and secure mobile access for laptops, smartphones and tablets
Patented reassembly-free deep packet inspection engine that allows Dell NGFWs to scan every byte of every packet on all ports and protocols, with almost zero latency, eliminating bottlenecks
The federal government, especially the DoD, requires the ability to quickly and easily acquire the private sector technology necessary to improve mission outcomes. Recent initiatives have been enacted to improve the DoD’s ability to engage Silicon Valley in its acquisition process, and ensure that the U.S. is able to maintain military superiority. In line with this goal, Dell Security is committed to ensuring that its most innovative cybersecurity products are available to DoD agencies through inclusion on the APLITS (Approved Products List Integrated Tracking System) website.
